Weekly Newsletter:

Dear Parents,

Happy Catholic Schools Week!

Thank you all so much for being part of our Catholic School.  Thank you for choosing a catholic education for your child.  Your support and dedication make St. Bonaventure a great place to be!

Updates/Reminders:

·         Tomorrow’s Catholic Schools Week activity is game day.  We are looking forward to having the Junior High students come to our classroom.  On Friday, we will do a craft project with our Bobcat Buddy.  Students are also asked to bring in one baby food item on Friday.  If you can’t make it to the store by Friday, please let me know….I can help you out with baby food!

Academic Schedule:

Religion – The students did such a great job in mass today.  Thank you for helping them prepare for their readings.

Math – We finished up Chapter 12.  We will move along to Chapter 13.  This chapter focuses on addition and subtraction facts to 12.  This chapter will present various strategies such as “doubles” and “doubles plus one.”  We will also find the sums of three numbers and practice writing number sentences.

Language Arts – Our story for the week is The Fox and Stork.  This is a fantasy story about two animal friends.  This week, we will work with the sound of long o spelled with –ow or -oa.  The reading skill is identifying characters.  In grammar, we will continue to focus on “Special Names” (Proper Nouns).  We will identify proper nouns for names of the months of the year.  As a special treat to go along with our story, we are going to make homemade chicken and vegetable soup on Friday.  Please let me know if your child has any food allergies that I might not already know about.

As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.  My email address is stbjmitchell@hotmail.com

Have a great week!

Mrs. Mitchell
