Preschool Mission Statement The St. Bonaventure Parish Preschool subscribes to the philosophy that each child is a very special gift. Remembering that Jesus always invited the little children to come to him, it is our goal to provide our students with experiences and opportunities to grow spiritually, intellectually, physically and emotionally in a loving Christian environment. Two Day Preschool Program: (3 year olds) 15 students/1 teacher-1 aide Tuesday/Thursday 8:30 am-11:00 am Child must be 3 years old by September 1 of the new school year and must be able to manage bathroom routine independently This program introduces the child to the preschool setting. The children are encouraged to learn through experience. Many activities such as storytelling, art, songs, games and science activities provide the child with opportunities to learn while at play. Short, formal lessons begin to introduce the child to some formal classroom structure.
Three Day Preschool Program: (4 year olds) 18 students/1 teacher-1 aide Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8:30 am-11:00 am Child must be 4 years old by September 1 of the new school year This program provides a variety of experiences which include small and large motor skills. The development of basic math, language, and reading skills which are necessary for entering Kindergarten are an important part of this curriculum. The groundwork for formal learning is part of the daily school routine while exciting and imaginative activities are enjoyed as well.
Five Day Pre-Kindergarten Enrichment Program: (4/5 yr olds) 18 students/1 teacher-1 aide Monday-Friday 12:00 pm-2:30 pm (After school care available until 6:00 pm) Child must be 5 years old by April 1, 2012 This program provides a great opportunity for the older 4 year old that is ready for enrichment. It is also ideal for the 5 year old who does not meet their school district age requirement for kindergarten and/or could benefit from an extra year of academic enrichment and socialization. In this program pre-reading, pre-math, and other developmentally appropriate skills will be taken to the next level as to prepare the students for a more formal structured kindergarten classroom setting. The program will allow the child additional time to become more developed socially, intellectually and to also obtain the self-confidence needed to encounter new challenges as the year progresses.
